Berenice read law at The University of Kent where she was awarded the Overall Advocacy award for 2007 before reading for the Bar at The College of Law. Whilst completing her BVC she also volunteered with the Personal Support Unit at the Royal Courts of Justice.
She was awarded a Harmsworth Scholarship by Middle Temple in 2008 and joined chambers after successfully completing her pupillage with 2 KBW where she was a pupil with Fern Russell and Paul Dugdale.
Berenice is keen to specialise in criminal work. She has a busy practice, which regularly takes her to the Magistrates' Court and Youth Courts of the Western and South Eastern Circuits. She is now prosecuting and defending in the Crown Court as well. Her cases cover the full range of criminal work from violence and drugs to dishonesty and sexual offences. She has also gained experience in Courts Martial work and is keen to advance in this area.
Berenice is now a grade 1 Prosecutor for the CPS after completing a two-month secondment with the CPS in 2010. During this time she undertook all levels of prosecution work in the Magistrates’ Court and is now appearing on behalf of the CPS in the Crown Court, instructed in both trials and appeals.
She is experienced in all areas of Road Traffic Act offences. She has successfully prosecuted and defended RTA offences in the Crown Court and the Magistrates' Court. In particular she has also successfully defended a failing to provide a specimen of blood charge that involved defence experts and complex legal argument.
