Profile
Michael Williams is a criminal practitioner with a thriving practice in both prosecution and defence. He is instructed in cases across the criminal spectrum including serious violence, sexual offences and high-value fraud.
As a CPS Level 3 advocate, Michael is regularly instructed to prosecute the more serious and complicated cases to come before the crown court. He has prosecuted cases involving large-scale gang related violence, complex workplace frauds and cases involving young and vulnerable witnesses.
His thorough approach to case preparation and his rapport with professional and lay clients mean he is a much sought after defence barrister. He is happy to advise lay and professional clients in the earliest stages of the criminal process and is the solicitors’ choice for cases where the lay client requires particular care. Michael is a persuasive advocate in court, fearlessly and forcefully presenting his client’s case. He is also experienced in Courts Martial and has represented members of the armed forces in an array of cases involving violence, drugs and dishonesty.
Michael is extremely knowledgeable in relation to prison law, and is instructed by prisoners throughout the country in adjudications and parole hearings.
As a Bar Council accredited Advocacy Trainer, Michael has taught and assessed students on the Bar Vocational course.
