Michelle has a mixed criminal and civil practice.

In her criminal work she has prosecuted and defended throughout her career at the bar.

She has developed considerable expertise in sex cases at all levels right up to The Court of Appeal.    She is experienced in the use of video link and deals regularly with young and vulnerable witness and victims.  She frequently acts in cases involving multiple victims.

She is instructed in frauds, recently acting as lead junior in a four handed sham marriage conspiracy case involving a considerable quantity of evidence.

She is used to assimilating large volumes of evidence at speed, and also dealing with cases from beginning to end, as she is frequently asked by solicitors to assist with the decision making process from an early stage.  She has a reputation for working well with solicitors and having an ability to cope with difficult clients.

She also does family work, including childcare and ancillary relief.

She undertakes regulatory work and this involves her in environmental protection matters and her clients include the Members of the Road Haulage Association (operation licensing work.)

The following cases provide examples of recent cases that Michelle has been instructed in.

  • R v P - Defendant charged with rape and indecent assault on nieces aged 6 onwards.
  • R v M - Acted as junior in a murder, where Defendant charged with murder of his wife.  Issue of provocation raised.
  • R v C and H - Prosecuting S:18 which involved injuries leaving the victim permanently paralysed.
  • R v J - Multiple count sex case against family members.  Went to Court of Appeal on issue impartiality of a juror.
